Senior Oracle Database Administrator

Summary:

CEDAR CX Technologies is a leading provider of powerful Private-Cloud-Based Managed Services solutions for Customer Communications Management (CCM). We help large financial institutions and insurance companies reshape the way they communicate with their customers and partners.

The Senior Oracle Database Administrator will lead the support of revenue critical professional services, customer deployment, and software delivery teams. This includes supporting database service improvement projects, managing pre- and post-production database services, and providing strategic database design thought leadership. 


Position Specific Competencies:

Database Administration: Administer all databases within Database Services, Operations.

Backup & Recovery: Ensures database backups are valid and completed in a timely manner using automated RMAN jobs. Performs data recovery operations when requested. 

Capacity Administration: Works with Systems Services and Ops Management to address capacity concerns.

SLA Compliance: Design, implement and verify operational processes that are in alignment with customer SLA and other external agreements.

Monitoring: Utilize available monitoring and alerting to ensure quality database service delivery. 

Change Management + Maintenance: Develop and implement change control procedures for service and customer specific upgrades. Plan, coordinate and communicate routine system and service maintenance.

Documentation: Ensure that all deployed database code packages, configurations and scripts are checked into CEDAR's source control system. Maintain the database team's wiki with accurate information.


Requirements:

Experience administering Oracle databases residing on premises and in the cloud; AWS or Azure platform experience required. 

Experience with Oracle 19c database operating on a Linux platform.

Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager for database management; Oracle Tuning, Diagnostic, and Change Management packs.

Experience automating a wide range of database administration tasks; covering the complete database lifecycle from of analysis to maintenance.

Understanding and experience with direct attached & SAN-based database storage.

Experience developing capacity planning best practices & data lifecycle management.

Ability to analyze complex data and draw conclusions on system performance, trends, and issues. 

Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously according to management priorities.

Desire and ability to learn new technologies/practices.

Ability to work under pressure within aggressive schedules.

Solid understanding of production systems change management.

Proactive in the identification and resolution of potential database issues.

Strong commitment to production systems & services under their direct control.

Experience managing production Oracle database systems with High Availability requirements; preferred (Oracle Data Guard {switchover/failover} and Oracle GoldenGate) on Linux platforms.


Education: 

Balance of education and experience sufficient to suggest successful performance in a demanding high-visibility role.
