Human Resources Manager

The Director of People and Culture will be a key strategic business partner to the management team focused on developing leadership, providing proactive and objective recommendations, driving engagement and retention, leading and executing initiatives that align with company mission and core values.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Design, implement and manage HR policies and procedures that align with company mission and core values
  • Champion the company culture by proactively designing, leading and executing initiatives
  • Partner with leaders and managers to understand and update job descriptions, design and implement compensation programs accordingly
  • Proactively seek to understand business processes, priorities, context, issues, and challenges to recommend and implement solutions that will drive engagement, performance and achieve results
  • Build trust‐based relationships, coach leaders and managers on people needs and consult on people decisions
  • Recognize and manage employee relations issues, address complaints, conduct and oversee investigations as required
  • Ensure compliance from relevant employment legislative requirements, including but not limited to, Pay Equity Act, Act respecting Labour Standards, and Act Respecting Occupational Health and Safety
  • Partner with leaders and managers to design and implement training programs and performance measurement programs to foster employee career development
  • Coordinate social events focused on employee recognition and engagement to fuel and strengthen company culture
  • Design, implement and regularly report People KPIs to the management team
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Experience / Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, Human Resources, or any relevant fields
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as HR Manager/Director
  • Exceptional communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with strong attention to details
  • High degree of integrity and business acumen
  • Strong relationship building skills and positive attitudes
  • Proficient with MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Bilingual ‐ English/French
  • Certified Human Resource Professional designation is an asset
  • Previous experience in manufacturing or cannabis industry is an asset
  • Experience growing a successful start‐up is an asset
