Senior Software Engineer

Orlando, FL

Engenium is seeking a skilled Software Engineer with experience in developing constructive simulations within military M&S environments. This position will work closely with site leads, program managers, other technical staff, and government representatives to develop, deploy, upgrade, and maintain simulation systems. This is a full-time position based out of Orlando, with ongoing duties at other customer sites or government facilities in Orlando. Periodic travel across the U.S. may be required.


Key Responsibilities:

·      Analyzes functional requirements to develop software requirements, related design, and code

·      Contributes to the analysis, design, development, integration, testing, and maintenance of software

·      Performs software testing (unit tests, code peer reviews, etc.) and supports overall system testing

·      Adheres to established system architectural specifications, government requirements, and IEEE standards

·      Adheres to strict CMMI quality procedures throughout lifecycle to ensure quality in delivered products

·      Assesses severity of issues, determines corrective action, resolves technical problems, and implements solutions

·      Authors, reviews, and updates system documentation for system design, security, testing, and planning activities

·      Assists in the writing and updating technical documentation including reports, user manuals, and procedures

·      Contributes to operation and maintenance of the system environment to meet milestones and deliverables

·      Assists in specification preparation and assesses components for integration

·      Keeps abreast of industry standards, best practices, tools, and other improvements in programming techniques

·      Identifies and recommends value-added changes to existing coding practices, standards, and processes

Required Qualifications:

·      Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field

·      8+ years of professional experience developing simulations and/or software in a team production environment

·      Proficiency with software engineering languages including: C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Pearl

·      Experience with constructive Simulation software systems and standards

·      Experience with virtual machines (e.g., VMware, VirtualBox)

·      Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems

·      Active Secret Clearance, -OR- eligibility to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance and/or Common Access Card


Bonus Skills/Experience:

·      Familiarity with DevOps / DevSecOps. Including related certifications

·      Familiarity with database design principles

·      Familiarity with Linux bash scripting, XML, HTML, and/or windows Batch scripting

·      Experience with system networking and troubleshooting (e.g., using Wireshark)

·      Experience with general system administration duties Windows. Linux, and/or Servers

·      Experience with supporting military training events or exercises utilizing simulation-based training systems

·      Understanding of Agile development methodologies and principles

·      Experience with Agile Management Systems for tracking tasks and issues (e.g., Jira, Axosoft)

·      Strong organizational skills with ability to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines consistently

·      Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities

·      Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
